We were all somewhat wrong about Gelsinger. We thought he's shrewd, bold, yet humble. Reality is that he's not much different from his predecessors, Wall Street puppets. Yet the irony is that even Wall Street does not like puppets, not for long.

It's rumoured that 10nm/Saphire Rapids delay has something to do with Intel's inefficient and cumbersome verification and validation process, where rivals AMD and Nvidia, together with TSMC, beat Intel both on cost and time. Would like to learn more details

Pat is just another Intel management swamp creature. I was at Intel when he was running what used to be DPG, then DEG, then he was made CTO and did absolutely nothing interesting other than preside over the Larabee and Itanium debacles.

He has built a cult of personality as some kind of technical genius when he was put onto the management fast track by Andy Grove while very young and before doing any real heavy-duty technical work. And the reason he was picked by Andy Grove was because he was a slick talker who understood the nature of Intel politics.

More than anything Pat is a believer in Intel culture... The same toxic culture that is destroying the company. I have seen absolutely nothing from Pat that indicates a willingness to challenge the system, because he is a product of that system.

I am so sad for Intel becoming another GE Xerox etc; Maybe it’s not a completely bad thing for Intel to breakdown, then at least some part of it may survive and become stronger

Intel will keep losing share in data centre until it can make EUV work at volume and compete on power/performance. Metrics beats marketing every time, eventually.

Pat still claimed Sapphire Rapids is on track. I couldn't believe it.

"I mean we are ramping this year but volume will primarily be next year"

its just.... really really really optimistic way to think about things i guess. Stacy grilled them on that.

I was also shocked that Pat claimed Meteor Lake are broadly sampled to customers.
